Jerry Rodger Martin, 75, of Bells, Texas passed away peacefully on Tuesday, July 5, 2022 at home with his family by his side. The family will receive friends from 6:30 to 8:00 PM on Friday, July 8, 2022 with services on Saturday, July 9, 2022 at 10:00 AM directed by Mullican Little Funeral Home. Reverend James Rogers and Brother Billy Neal will officiate the services with internment at Rose Hill Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice Plus 100 W. Lamberth Road, Suite C, Sherman, Texas, 75092.
Jerry, also known as BoBo, was born April 19, 1947 in Grayson County to Alvin and Mary Ann Martin. He was the oldest of four children. His brother, Kennith Ray Martin was born in 1952. His sister, Vanita Ann Martin Sewall, was born in 1957. His brother, Johnny Alvin Martin, was born in 1961. Jerry attended Bells High School and Grayson County College. He married his high school sweetheart, Lillis Pauline Watkins Martin, in 1966 in Whitewright, Texas. He retired from Anderson Clayton after twenty years. He was also a realtor in Bells for a number of years. After 15 years of service at TXU Valley Plant in Savoy, Texas, he retired in 2002. Jerry enjoyed his bowling leagues and participated in weekend fishing tournaments. He and his wife loved RVing. Snowbirding in January and traveling north in the summer months was the normal for their retirement years. He and Lillis loved spoiling their grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jerry never met a stranger and had many friends not only in his community but also from their annual travels.
Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Lillis, daughter, Nan Herring and husband Duane of Longview, daughter, Kay Branch and husband Jerry of Bells. Grandchildren include Erica Goodman and husband Andy of White Oak, Trace Branch and wife Bethany of Lake Worth, Jessica Baird and husband Dale of Fort Worth, Cheyenne Anderson and husband Russell of Pottsboro. Great grandchildren: Avery and Austin Goodman, Parker Baird, and Levi and Rylee Branch. He has numerous sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, and nieces and nephews who were so very dear to him. Jerry was preceded in death by his dad, Alvin Martin, and his mother, Mary Ann Martin.
Pallbearers will be Brad Whitmire, Johnny Harvey, Jeff Lansford, Russell Anderson, Dale Baird, Andy Goodman with honorary pallbearers Jerry Branch, Sr., Stan Vick, and Melvin Whitmire.

We had a lot of great times with Jerry and Lillis at the lake playing horse shoes or somewhere playing billiards. Jerry was always smiling and he was very competitive. He was fun to be around and i will always cherish the memories we had with Jerry and Lillis. My prayers go out to Lillis and the rest of the family in this very tough time !!!!
