On August 1, 2023, Julia Beth Nelms, 85, of Ector, Texas, went peacefully home to be with the Lord. She was surrounded by her loved ones and her hand was held until the very end. Julie was born on February 16, 1938 to Urban and Virginia (Dulaney) Leonard of Bonham.
Julie married Charles Bellows of Ector on November 10, 1956. They had 25 beautiful years together. As an only child, Julie had dreamed of having a big family. Luckily, she married into a large and boisterous one and went on to have three amazing children. Charles passed away in 1980 leaving behind a beautiful legacy.
On February 11, 1983, Julie married Don Nelms of Ector. She gained two daughters in her marriage to Don. Together, they shared 40 years of raising their 5 children, Glen, Terri, Tommy, Diana and Danita. Julie was incredibly blessed to have 13 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and one great great grandson.
She was known as Meme to most people. She was spunky, fun and strong. When you stopped by her house, she would always offer a glass of lemonade and a fried bologna sandwich. Her heart was so big and she shared it with everyone, her love had no limits.
Julie was preceded in death by her son, Glen Bellows; her late husband, Charles Bellows; along with her parents Urban and Virginia Leonard.
The family that she will meet again one day are her husband, Don Nelms; her children, Terri Sanford and husband Larry of Ector, Tommy Bellows and wife Vicki of Ector, Diana Russell and husband Brad of Weatherford, and Danita Williams of Savoy; grandchildren, Daniel Godwin and wife Shelly of McKinney, Derrick Hughes of Ector, Jennifer Green and husband Jeff of Edhube, Audrie Dollins and husband Jason of Pilot Point, Colt Bellows and wife April of Ector, Charlie Bellows and wife Rae of Powhatan, Virginia, Chris Hughes and wife Tandee of Pottsboro, Lauren Dickson and husband Chris of Honey Grove, Andy Sanford of Bonham, Ryder Caplinger and wife Destiny of Mineola, Justin Russell of Mansfield, MyKayla Laws and husband Tanner of Oklahoma City, and Callie Willams of Savoy; great grandchildren, Addy and Colby Godwin, Emma and Charlee Hughes, Annabelle and Henry Green, Presley and Scarlett Dollins, Hadley and Reed Bellows, Braden, Nolan, Norah Bellows, Brylee and Layton Hughes, Levi and Wade Dickson, Kyler and Rylie Jo Caplinger; along with great great grandson, Anthony; She is also survived by a cousin Charles West and wife Carolina of Bonham.

Sweet Julie! She and I carpooled together in the late 1960’s to work at TI in Sherman. We had so many laughs on our road trips to work and back home. May God bring comfort to her family during this time. ❤️❤️
