Maria Carmen (Martinez) Goodman passed away suddenly on Monday, August 7, 2023 in Denison. She was the youngest of five children born to Antonio A. and Maria Barbara (Mestes) Martinez. She was born on Leap Day February 29, 1932 in Las Animas County, Colorado. Carmen married Billy George Goodman on October 27, 1951 in Cheyenne, Wyoming. They were married for 62 years until Billy’s death on December 1, 2013.
Bill and Carmen traveled the United States working at county fairs, carnivals, state fairs and trade shows; making friends and enjoying life on the road together. They were affectionately known as “Mammaw and Pappy”. It was said of Carmen that she was passionate about her husband Bill and taking her exercise. She was focused on a healthy lifestyle and often told family and friends “Move it or you’ll lose it”. After life brought them to Bells, she was part of a lady’s group that exercised regularly together. She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Denison.
Carmen was preceded in death by her husband, Billy Goodman; parents, Antonio and Maria Martinez; daughter, Laura Lee Silva; siblings, Andy Mendosa, Lucy Lovato, Miguel Martinez, and Rose Martinez.
She is survived by son, John Goodman and wife Linda of Lone Grove, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Dina Anderson and husband Thomas, Chris Martin and wife Kristen, Jodi Cerda and husband Shawn, Oscar Goodman and wife Diana, Teresa Goodman and partner Kelsie Jones, Courtney McDaniel and husband Jake; son in law, Ronnie Lee; great grandchildren, Makensie Herold and husband Drew, Kassidy Anderson and Riley Countryman, Rylee Anderson, Morgan Dudley and husband Tyler, Marlee Martin, Noah, Shaylee, Lilly and Brady Cerda, Chris, Jessica Goodman, and Madison McDaniel. She was also survived by four great great grandchildren.
A Rosary will be held on Friday, August 11, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Mullican Little Funeral Home 754 State Hwy 56 E. Bells, Texas 75414. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 11, 2023 at 11:00 AM at Mullican Little Funeral Home. Interment to follow at Rose Hill Cemetery Bells.
I always heard that dynamite comes in small packages and Carmen is proof of that. I had the opportunity to enjoy her fiesty personality several times. She made the adventure fun and memorable. She will truly be missed by all those that had the chance to meet her. ❤️
