Our beloved friend, wife, mother and Nanny was led home on February 25, 2023. Marinan Whiting Washburn, age 100, was born July 5, 1922 in Savoy, Texas to Claude Vernon Whiting and Audrey Nora (Fox) Whiting.
After graduating salutatorian of Bells High School in 1940, Marinan married the love of her life, Joseph E. Washburn, on November 18, 1942 in Bells, Texas. Together they enjoyed 57 year of marriage and raised three wonderful children Claudia, Nancy and Richard. Marinan was a caring and giving person, and she was faithful to God, her church and her family. She was a proud descendant of her pioneering ancestors and the matriarch of her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
She was proceeded in death by her husband, Joseph E Washburn; daughter, Claudia Washburn Day; brother, ‘Buddy’ Whiting; sisters, Lora Byrd Whiting Tindall and Edith Jeanne Whiting Stroud.
She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Trainor and husband James of Denison; son, Richard Washburn and wife Vicki of Denison; six grandchildren, Tara Trainor Campbell and husband Rodney of Bells, Matt Washburn and wife Dava of Bells, Taylor Trainor and wife Amber of Bells, Adam Washburn and wife Lori of Howe, Travis Trainor and wife Veronica of Prosper, and Ben Washburn and wife Kristen of Bells; thirteen great-grandchildren, Hayden Trainor, Ansley Campbell, Holden Trainor, Hailey Trainor, Peyton Washburn, Rendon Campbell, Carder Washburn, Reid Washburn, Barrett Washburn, Blevins Washburn, Baylon Washburn, Sawyer Trainor, and Georgia Washburn; and many cherished nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
Pallbearers will include grandsons, Matt Washburn, Taylor Trainor, Adam Washburn, Travis Trainor, Ben Washburn and great-grandson Hayden Trainor. Honorary pallbearers will include great-grandsons, Holden Trainor, Peyton Washburn, Rendon Campbell, Carder Washburn, Reid Washburn, Barrett Washburn, Blevins Washburn, and Baylon Washburn.
Funeral services will be held Monday, March 6, 2023 at 12:00 PM at the Trinity Fellowship Church 101 Hwy 69 Denison, Texas. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral. Burial will follow at Cedarlawn Memorial in Sherman, Texas. Memorials can be made to Trinity Fellowship Church or the Bells ISD Education Foundation.
