Melissa Lynn Perkins of Savoy, Texas passed away at her home on January 2, 2021, with family by her side, at the age of 59.

She was born on February 21, 1961 in Jacksonville, Arkansas to Glen G. and Nettie Sue Anderson Hair. She attended Colbert, Oklahoma schools and was a graduate of Colbert High School. She married Steve Perkins on October 14, 1988 in Sherman, Texas.

She owned and operated the very popular Perk’s Barbeque Stand in Savoy for many years, until health issues forced her to retire.

She is survived by her husband, Steve Perkins; brothers, James Hair and wife Cheryl, and Charles Hair all of Colbert. She is also survived by three step children, who she loved as her own. Angela Land and husband Shawn, Stevey and his fiancé Whitney, Krystal and husband Jared. Her mother-in-law, Sue Perkins; and eight grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn G. and Nettie Sue Anderson Hair; one sister, Mary Elizabeth Hair; two brothers, Stephen Glen and Randy Brent Hair; her father-in-law, Bob Perkins.

In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to be made in Melissa Perkins honor to the Cancer Research Institute at www.cancerresearch.org

The family will receive friends at a “come and go” visitation on January 6, 2021 at 6-8PM at Mullican Little Funeral Home at 754 State Hwy 56 E. Bells, Texas 75414. There will be a Graveside service at Sunnyside Cemetery in Savoy, Texas on January 7, 2021 at 1PM with Brother Chris Merritt of First Baptist Church, Savoy officiating. Due to Covid-19, masks will be required at the visitation and the graveside service. Social distancing is requested.

    I sure had fun growing up and spending time every year at Easter and Christmas with Missy and all the cousins at Aunt Sue’s, Aunt Ann’s or Aunt Betty’s.

    That was great times!
