It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Robert Donald Jackson, 73, of Wylie, Texas. Robert peacefully passed away on November 15, 2024. He was born on May 5, 1951, in Yale, Oklahoma to Donald and Mary Louise Jackson. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Robert grew up in Drumright, Oklahoma and later lived in Louisiana, where he graduated from Lafayette High School before embarking on a career as a truck driver. He later operated his own hot shot business, where he earned a reputation for his hard work and dedication.
In 1985, Robert married the love of his life, Anita Stevens and together they raised a beautiful family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Anita Jackson; daughters Ashley Carter and husband Taylor, Tammy Baggett; son Jimmy Don Jackson; brother Mickey Jackson; sisters-in-law Ronda Gray, Juanita Wright and Rita Jackson; brothers-in-law Ralph “JR” Stevens, Jr. and John Wall; several grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Robert was a man of simple pleasures and strong passions. He enjoyed the great outdoors, spending time fishing, hunting, and camping, and he loved nothing more than cooking out with family and friends. He was an avid fan of sports, cheering passionately for the Dallas Cowboys, Dallas Mavericks, Texas Longhorns, and more recently, the Kansas City Chiefs. Robert also found joy in the little things—like playing card games, reading his newspaper from front to back, and enjoying his morning biscuits and gravy with a cup of coffee.
A faithful member of the Wylie Church of Christ, Robert’s faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he will be remembered for his generosity and kindness. Robert loved serving at his church at the food pantry drive where he could be involved in serving his community.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, November 21, 2024 from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Mullican Little Funeral Home 754 State Hwy 56 E. Bells, Texas 75414. A graveside service to celebrate Robert’s life will be held on Friday, November 22, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Sunnyside Cemetery, 794 N. Farm to Market 1752, Savoy, Texas 75479.
