February 5, 1927 –  March 27, 2013 Robert Fane Hodges passed away Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Clyde Cosper Veterans Home in Bonham. Funeral Services will be at Mullican-Little Funeral Chapel in Bells/Savoy on Saturday, March 30 at 2:00 P.M. Charles Wrenn, Lou Williams, and James Seigler will officiate. Jack Vest will be the soloist. Burial will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons: Scott Wrenn, Chris Preuninger, Corey Preuninger, Blaine Sadler, Jon Sadler and Nathan Hale.
Robert was born February 5, 1927 in Savoy, Texas. His parents were Fane and Bessie Hodges. He graduated from Savoy High School in 1944 and joined the Navy and served in WWII on a Navy aircraft carrier in the South Pacific. After he left the military, he graduated from North Texas State University in 1949. He married Tommy Jinks Smith on October 7, 1949 in Denison. His first teaching/coaching job was in Decatur, Texas. After he left Decatur, he taught and coached at Denison High School. In 1963, he became the superintendent of Savoy ISD. He retired as superintendent in 1985. His favorite pastime was RV camping all over the United States with his wife and many lifelong friends.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Tyler Hodges. His is survived by his wife of 63 years, Tommy of the home; three daughters, Brenda and Charles Wrenn of Leonard, Patricia and Terry Preuninger of Royce City, Karen Lawson and Dan Johnson of Dodd City; five grandchildren, Angela and Jon Sadler, Scott and Hannah Wrenn, Chris and Tai Preuninger, Lacie and Nathan Hale, and Corey and Cindy Preuninger; six great-grandchildren, Brenley and Blaine Sadler, Cheznie, Allie, and Sydnie Hale, and Sadie Preuninger.

The family would like to thank all the staff at Mullican Nursing Home in Savoy and Clyde Cosper State Veterans Home in Bonham for the care they gave to Robert.

Visitation will be from 6-8 pm, Friday, March 29 at Mullican-Little Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, you may wish to make a donation to the Robert F. Hodges scholarship fund at Savoy High School.
