Ruby Mae (Walters) Reynolds passed away peacefully on March 26, 2022 at the age of 93 in Terrell, Texas. She was born August 2, 1928 to Harvey and Ora Walters in Bells, Texas.

She married Joseph Auburn Reynolds on April 13,1946 in Bells and was deeply in love with Joe, who served in the U.S. Army for 27 years. In 1956, the family moved to France for three years, they later lived in Lawton, Oklahoma and then settled in Fort Worth, Texas and eventually in Everman, Texas. Joe and Ruby bought the old Bells Hotel in 1975 and had a restaurant called “The Family Table” for a brief time, but it was mainly Joe and Ruby’s hotel/residence for 30 years before returning to Fort Worth to help raise their grandson Zak and be closer to Neely and family.

She was Ruby Mae to her friends, Mom to Neely and Linda, and Gommie to Zak. Gommie was her greatest title. Gommie was kind, generous, loving and encouraging to others. Ruby was a beautician, a sales person in a Sherman Department Store. But mostly she loved her family, the Reynolds and Walters families. Everyone was always welcomed at Joe and Ruby’s. There was good food, conversation and laughter. She was a beautiful child of God, whose outward beauty reflected the inner presence of Christ within her. A wonderful Mom and Grandmother who lived for her family. Ruby was a believer in Jesus Christ and shared her faith by loving others and being available for family and anyone who needed an encouraging word, she believed “Everybody is somebody”. Joe and Ruby were members of Virginia Point Methodist Church. She truly loved everyone and had a great smile to give to all. She had a full life. The last few years were in a care facility were difficult, due to dementia but she held on to her faith and desired others to be happy. Her final words of encouragement to her son were, “Don’t worry.”

She was preceded in death by her parents Harvey and Ora; brother, Donald Ray Walters; granddaughter, Emily Gerken.

She is survived by her son, Joseph Wyndell Neely Reynolds and wife Linda L. (Stobaugh) Reynolds; grandchildren, Joseph Melvin Zachery Reynolds, Annie and Phoebe Strole, Brian and Kyle Richardson; along with many nieces and nephews.

A special thank you to Randy and Karen Reynolds who checked on her and provided comfort while Neely and Linda lived in Early, Texas, where he serves as pastor for the congregations of First United Methodist Church, Early and the United Methodist Church, Gouldbusk, Texas.

Neely, Linda and Zak are thankful for all the outpouring of love and kind words shared by many friends and family.

Graveside services will be held on Thursday, March 31, 2022 at 3:30 PM at Virginia Point Cemetery in Savoy, Texas. Rev. Joseph W. Neely Reynolds M.Div. will officiate the graveside service.
