T.C. Burks was born on September 16, 1927 at home in Tom Bean, Texas as a first child of Thomas and Cora (Beacham) Burks. He was one of the seven children. He passed away peacefully on November 8, 2023 at Clyde Cosper Texas State Veterans Home in Bonham, Texas.
T.C. was shaped by the Great Depression, he knew the value of hard work and hard times. He treasured his family and was motivated to join the Army in order to help support them. T.C. had a unique military record, he served two times, separated by six years; his first hitch was in the closing days of World War II, and then in 1952, he served in the Korean Conflict. He was a proud veteran.
T.C. was a skilled machinist working for over 30 years for the U.S. Brass. Integrity, hard work, and high standards were the values of his life. After retirement, he built a shop repairing many tractors, cars, or even a dirt tracker or two! T.C. even with a limited formal education, was nonetheless a mechanical genius and loved helping family and friends. He found deep satisfaction, sharing his skills with people who needed help.
He was preceded in death by his parents, the mother of his children, Loucil, and five siblings.
T.C. is survived by his son, Tommy Burks and wife Nelda; daughter, Shirley Wright and husband Steven; son, Kenneth Burks and wife Betty; and son, Billy Burks; grandchildren, Scotty Burks, Melissa Daniels and husband Wesley, Kristina Shahan and husband Nick, Kevin Burks and wife Ariane, Travis Burks, Crystal Burks, and Nicole Burks; five great grandchildren; and sister, Juanita Carr.
Visitation will be held Friday, November 10, 2023 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Mullican Little Funeral Home 754 State Hwy 56 E. Bells, Texas 75414. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023 at 10:00 AM at Mullican Little Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Fairview Cemetery Ravenna, Texas.
