Tommie Mack Price was born August 6,1945 north of Savoy, Texas in a place known as “Tent City” to Kenneth W. Price and Kathlene (Sharp) Price. He died at home on August 30,2024. He was one of five children in his family. He married Virgina Lee Dawson in Durant, Oklahoma on June 19,1967, they were married 55 years until her death in 2022. Tommie served our country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War.
Tommie was a talented man of many skills. He had an amazing mechanical ability to analyze and repair anything from appliances to automobiles. He was also a wonderful gardener. Tommie had a big garden, and his favorites were cucumbers, tomatoes, melons, okra, squash, corn and potatoes. He gladly shared the abundance of produce with family and friends. His family has vivid memories of walking in his garden. Tommie was a great fisherman bringing home many big catches and bountiful stringers. He would clean and filet the fish and Virginia would fry them. He was also a talented musician, playing a variety of stringed instruments including guitar, bass guitar, steel guitar, and banjo. He filled the home with wonderful music and his excellent singing voice, many would agree one of the favorites was Silver Wings.
He now joins his family who preceded in death including wife, Virginia; son, Michael Dale Price; daughter Jennifer Pickens; parents, Kenneth and Kathlene Price; four brothers and a sister.
Tommie is survived by daughter, Lori Deveaux of Royce City, Texas; son, Jessie Price and wife Crystal of Gainesville, Texas; step son, John Hughart; sister in law, Ginger Price; grandchildren, Lorinda Chase and husband John of Yantis, Oklahoma, Stephanie Pollard and husband Steve of Lone Oak, Texas, Steven Black and wife Britnie of Greenville, Texas, Billy Ward and his partner Bobby of Kansas, Oklahoma, Kristopher Black and wife Julianna of Bentonville, Arkansas, Sklier Freeman and husband Jacoby of Thackerville, Oklahoma, Kaden Johnson and wife Meagan of Lake Kiowa, Texas, Bridgett Pacheco of Thackerville, Tommy Hall and wife Destiny of Denison, Texas, Tyler Hall and wife Kara, Tammy Wheless and husband Brian all of Bonham, Texas; 20 great grandchildren and six great great grandchildren.
