Tommy was born February 14, 1929, in Ector, Texas. Her parents were Herman and Emma Smith. She graduated from Savoy High School in 1946. She went to business school in Sherman and then went to work for Quaker Oats also in Sherman. She married Robert Hodges on October 7, 1949. They were married for 63 years. After marriage, they moved to Decatur, Texas. There she was a housewife and stayed home with their first two daughters, Brenda and Patricia. They then moved to Denison, Texas, where their third daughter, Karen, was born. In 1963, they moved to Savoy, Texas where they resided the rest of their lives. Tommy stayed home as a housewife until the Fall of 1971 where she became the secretary/bookkeeper for Savoy ISD. When her husband, Robert, retired in 1985, she also retired. Her favorite pastimes were RV camping all over the United States with her husband and many lifelong friends, attending the many sporting events of her great grandchildren, and working puzzles.
Tommy was loved by everyone who knew her. She never had a bad word to say about anyone. She always had a smile that could illuminate an entire room, inspiring countless hearts with its warmth. She always said God had blessed her by allowing her to live a long, extraordinary life. She left an enduring legacy of love and devotion.
