Vella M. Brock Puckett was born on March 1, 1931 at Globe, Arizona to John Brock and Lottie Tryon Brock. She passed away on October 26, 2020 at her home in Savoy, Texas surrounded by her family. She was 89 years of age.
She married Roger Forrest Puckett on December 4, 1950 at Globe, Arizona. Together they made a home and raised their three daughters. He was a minister in the Church of Christ. They ministered together in Arizona, Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas. They also served in missions to Wyoming and Australia. He preceded her in death on October 14, 1978. After Roger passed away, she went to work at the Bealls Department store where she retired after 29 years. While working at Bealls she continued ministry on missions trips to Jamaica, Mexico, Costa Rica and South America. She made over 40 trips to Jamaica. She made her last missions trip in 2017. She loved the church and was a faithful member of the Church of Christ and was currently attending the Ivanhoe Church of Christ.
Vella was a faithful wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She loved her family and she will be greatly missed.
She is survived by her daughters, Lavonna Clinton (Billy) of Savoy, Sharon Davis (Durward) of Abbeville, Mississippi, and Rogena McClain (John) of Eufala, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Sheri Folkes (Eric), Tammie Dickison (Mike), Billy F. Clinton (Elisa), Ann Robinson (Derek), Gena Hesselrode (Adam), Carla Murray (Nathan), Carrie Lindsay (Drew), Adam McClain (Janice), and Amanda McClain; great-grandchildren, Zach Folkes (Blaire), Meagen Folkes, Daniel Dickison (Rhianne), David Dickison (Emily), Mark Dickison, Melanie Dickison, Kristen Dickison, Kemplin Dickison, William Clinton, Emmy Clinton, Samuel Clinton, Davis Hesselrode, Abby Hesselrode, Ethan Hesselrode, Henley Murray, Julia Murray, Landon Murray, Zachary Lindsay, Liam Lindsay, Declyn Lindsay, Charlotte McClain, Miles McClain; and great-great- granddaughter, Madelynn Dickison. She was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband Roger Puckett.
Funeral Services will be held 10am Wednesday, October 28, 2020 at the Bells Church of Christ. Mike Dickison and Charles Wrenn will officiate. Pallbearers will be Zach Folkes, Daniel Dickison, David Dickison, Mark Dickison, Kemplin Dickison, William Clinton, and Samuel Clinton. Interment will follow at Sunnyside Cemetery, Savoy, Texas. A visitation will be held 6-8PM Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at Mullican Little Funeral Home Chapel Bells, Texas.
