September 2, 1912 –  August 7, 2013 John Thomas “J.T.” McBroom went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at Mullican Care Center of Savoy, Texas at the age of 100. He was born September 2, 1912 in the Meddlin Town Community which was South of Whitewright, to parents Whitt and Mahala Hall McBroom.
J.T. attended school at Pilot Grove and then went onto East Texas College at Commerce. He worked on the farm in his younger days, but was a Carpenter by trade. He built numerous houses, barns and other buildings before he retired.

He became a Christian at the age of 13. He was a long time resident of Bells, and a member of the First Baptist Church there, where he served his church family for many years as a Deacon, Sunday School Teacher, Sunday School Director and in various other ways. He was proud of the fact that as a carpenter, he and his crew were able to build the church building where he attended at Bells.

J.T. married Thelma Franklin in Bells on July 3, 1937 with the late Reverend J.B. Hibbert officiating. He and Thelma had a wonderful 76 years together. They loved the Lord and served Him well.

He is survived by his loving wife, Thelma of Bells; Daughter, Brenda Reed and husband Hilton of Whitesboro; Grandson, Jason Reed of Whitesboro; Granddaughter, Christy Reed Duran and husband Steve of Anna; Great Granddaughter, Trinity Duran of Anna and numerous Nieces and Nephews; Sisters-In-Law Jessie Williams and husband Mack of Whitewright, and Georgia Carter of Fort Worth; and a host of friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother and sister-in-law, Barney and Mattie McBroom.

Funeral Services for J.T. are set for 10:30 A.M., Saturday, August 10, 2013 at the First Baptist Church of Bells with Brother Billy Neal and Reverend Thomas Beall officiating. Deacons of the church will serve as Pallbearer for J.T.

A Family Visitation is from 6:30 to 8 P.M., Friday, August 9, 2013 at Mullican-Little Funeral Home in Bells.
