James Robert Burgess

June 1, 1955 - January 23, 2018

Bobby Burgess, age 62, of Bells, Texas passed away January 23, 2018. He was born June 1, 1955 in Harlingen, Texas to Billy Howard Burgess and Katherine (Mangrum) Burgess.
Bobby loved tinkering with cars and he was fascinated with anything with an engine; lawnmowers, tractors, etc. He had the ability to overhaul any engine and he passed on the love of auto mechanics to his daughter, Dena. He was generous to help other people with their cars, but he loved to give them a hard time. Bobby and his brother, Billy, were fishing buddies. They enjoyed many times deep-sea fishing off the Texas coast. Anyone who knew Bobby, knew he loved collecting his “treasures”.

He is survived by his daughter, Dena Oglesbee and husband Scott of Bells, TX; granddaughters Haley Kinsey, Shiann Oglesbee; grandson Jaiden Oglesbee; and sister Cindy Page and husband John of Bells, Tx.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Billy H. Burgess Jr.

Memorial service will be 12:00 noon Saturday, February 3, 2018 at his home. 292 Sunny Lane Bells, Texas 75414.

    Loved Jesus above all & everyone he knew knew it cause he told them. His favorite hat said ” Jesus is coming and mad as hell!” He always shared all he had with strangers and friends alike. He bought everything he could on clearance or sale so he could share all. There will never be another Bobby.

    Bobby was my cousin and definitely one of a kind!!!! He had his fair
    share of wild stories to tell, until he found his love for the Lord. Anytime
    you were down or out of sorts, he always knew the right Scripture to recite.
    He always gave me the encouragement that no matter how bad of a past you
    had, you needed to repent and ask God for his forgiveness. And although some-
    times he would overwhelm me with his relentlessness to quote Scripture for
    every situation; I never knew how much I would miss his ability to quote over
    and over until he was gone!!!! I never got to tell him how much he would get on
    my nerves about him Preaching the Gospel, that is what I miss most about him. Rest In Peace Bobby until we meet again.
