John Paul Evans was born on August 31, 1927 at Hominy, Oklahoma to John Edward Evans and Tinnie Arkie Clark Evans. He married Ruby Charlene Treat on February 4, 1949. She preceded him in death on January 27, 1997. He later married Doris Evelyn Jones Stephens on March 3, 1985 in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He passed away peacefully at his home in Savoy, Texas on March 12, 2020.

After graduating from high school Paul proudly served his nation in the U.S. Navy at the end of World War II. He served aboard the USS Chicago in the Pacific Theater in Japan. John had a varied career in his life doing many things to take care his family. He loved to keep his mind active doing crossword puzzles and Sudoku. He was a great husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and great-great-grandfather. He was a long time member and Deacon at First United Methodist Church, Ector. He was loved and will be missed.

He is survived by his wife, Doris Evans of Savoy; sons, Paul Emmett Evans of Republic, Missouri, William E. Evans of San Antonio, Texas, John E. Evans of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Tom E. Evans of Edmond, Oklahoma, Michael Stephens of Savoy, Texas; daughter, Rebecca Parham of Anna; son, Claude Stephens of Midlothian; daughter, Susan Van Hoosier of Wolfe City, Texas; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Mary Bishop of Turley, Oklahoma and Peggy Hathcoat of Harrison, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Ruby Evans; brother, Clarence Edward Evans; sister, Mildred Alling; and son, John Stephens.

Memorial Services will be held 2:00PM on Sunday, March 15, 2020 at the First United Methodist Church, Ector, Texas. Pastor Dee Morton will officiate. Graveside Inurnment Services will be held at a later date at Floral Haven Memorial Gardens, Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Military Honors will be provided by the U.S. Navy Honor Guard.
