O.E. “Buddy” Price went to be with the Lord surrounded by his family on January 27, 2021 at his home in Bells, Texas.
O.E. was born May 18, 1929 to Oval Earl Price and Lura Mae (Skinner) Price at Blanton Chapel, Texas. He was raised, along with the sisters whom he loved dearly; Edna, Arneda and Jo, in mainly Fannin and Grayson counties. The family did live near Garland, Texas for a time and managed a dairy.
O.E. always helped with farming, ranch work and the dairy business in the various places his family lived. His favorite past time growing up was riding horses.
He attended school at Enterprise, Klondike, Lamasco and Westminster where he graduated in 1946. He always worked hard to help his family after the death of his father when he was twelve years old. He worked at Texas Nursery, Barq’s Bottling company and Hardwicke-Etter before joining the Army. He was in the Army Transportation Corp. Due to being a key employee machinist, his job at Hardwicke-Etter was waiting on him after his service to our country. He worked as a superintendent over the machine shop at Hardwicke-Etter for 22 years and five days. He also worked for Washington Iron Works and Cole Machine in the same position. O.E. was the financial secretary for the International Association of Machinists. After retirement, he enjoyed working with his son in construction.
O.E. married “the Gunter beauty”, Billie Dean Milner December 24, 1951 in Sherman, Texas. They have four children; Brenda, Bud, Bonnie, and Bridget.They made their home in Sherman and Van Alstyne before moving to Bells. O.E. served the Bells community as president of the school board and the Panther Booster club. He also played an integral part in beginning the Bells Ambulance Service. He was also a member of the First Baptist Church in Bells.
Surviving O.E. are daughters; Brenda Kozikowski and husband Richard, Bonnie Pittman and husband Randy, and Bridget Hutcheson and husband David; grandchildren; Brandi and husband Ryan, Brandon, Britni, Angel, Mandee and husband Daniel, Mindee and husband Rafe, Gary Lynn and wife Claire, Heather and Hilary. Also, by Ryan and wife Rachel, and Braeden; great-grandchildren, Taven, Bralynn, Zarynn, Lela, Brendan, Zach, Andon, Isabella, Alee, R.J., Haylee, Kaydee, Gavin, Annie, August and Marian; sister, Jo Cole and husband Ovid; sister-in-law, Alice McGraw along with many nieces and nephews that he loved.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 57 years Billie Dean (Milner) Price who passed away April 7, 2008; parents, Oval Earl and Lura Mae Price; stepfather, J.E. Medford; son, O.E. “Bud” Price, Jr. and great granddaughter, Alyssa Kozikowski; sisters, Edna Wilder and Arneda Sullivan.
O.E. was blessed with the best neighbors, especially Roger, Sandra, Jennifer, and Justin Reynolds. As well as Eli, Jennifer, Tanner, Bradic and Boston Carter. They all brought him great joy.
A fun fact about O.E. is that he is a Golden Gloves Champion. He also leaves this advice. “Work hard and do your job well, but take the vacation with your family”
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at 2:00 PM at Mullican Little Funeral Home Chapel 754 State Hwy 56 E. Bells, Texas 75414 to honor this wonderful father, grandfather, uncle and friend. Due to Covid-19, masks will be required at the memorial service. Social distancing is requested.
