September 7, 1920 –  August 24, 2011 Reverend Robert G. Cody, 90, went to be with his Lord on August 24, 2011. The celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, August 26, 2011 at the First Baptist Church of Savoy TX. Burial will follow at Little Jordan Cemetery in Savoy. Visitation with family and friends will be held Thursday 6-7 P.M. at Mullican-Little Funeral Home.
Robert (Bob) was born September 7, 1920 in Tipton, OK, the son of Michael Ney and Mollie Branch Cody. He married Gloria Virginia Lovelady on July 9, 1946 and they were married for 65 years. He was called into the ministry in 1959 and pastored several churches throughout Texas, and served locally at Calvary Baptist Church of Bonham, Elwood Baptist Church, and First Baptist Church of Savoy. During WW II he served his country in the United States Navy as a torpedo man on aircraft carriers in the South Pacific. Bob loved his Lord, family, and country. His hobbies were camping and fishing and after retirement, he and Gloria spent many summers in New Mexico.

Surviving family include his wife, Gloria of Bonham, TX; three daughters: Linda Bragg of Early, TX; Susie Melugin and her husband, Tom, of Savoy, TX; Patricia Green and her husband, Steve, of Campbell, TX; two sons: Terry Cody and his wife, Mary Ann, of Bonham, TX; Scott Cody of Savoy, TX; ten grandchildren; Michelle Southerland and her husband, Mark; Jeremiah Bragg; Stephanie Manning and her husband, Jackie; Kilee Adley and her husband, Kelley; Dr. Kyle Anderson and his wife, Dr. Carrie Cearley; Kelly Anderson; Candice Card; Stephen Card; Derek Green and Stephen Green; twelve great-grandchildren; Jackson Southerland, Lauren Southland, Cailyn Southerland, Cody Bragg, Hannah Bragg, Kade Adley, Abigail Anderson, Amelia Anderson, Lillie Card, Hayden Green, and Zachary & Alicia Manning.

He was preceded in death by his parents; five brothers: Otis Cody, Roy Cody, Vernie Cody, Ted Cody, and Perman Cody; three sisters: Cecil Johnson, Betsy Brown and Effie Swan; and one grandson Justin Cody.

Pallbearers will be deacons of the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Savoy or the donor’s charity of choice.
