Pat Murphree passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on June 18, 2023 at the age of 74. He was born in Waco, Texas to Ottis “Sonny” Murphree and Elsie (Wilkins) Murphree on September 30, 1948. He married his beautiful bride Brenda Gail Thrasher on May 7, 1969 at First Baptist Church in Garland, Texas and they were married for 54 years at the time of his passing. He proudly served in the United States Army. He served in Vietnam and was discharged after nine years as a Staff Sergeant.
He taught his children to love, honor, and respect others as well as themselves. He was bullish when it came to rules and stubborn about always doing the right thing. He was even quicker to laugh and love.
Pawpaw was proud to see his grandkids succeed and was always excited to see them grow. He loved playing games, seeing their smiles and hearing their laughter. He taught them that family is everything.
Pat was a devoted brother, known to be ornery and loved to pester but always there when needed.
He never met a stranger, and it was said about him “Pawpaw loved people the way “Jesus loved people”.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Sonny and Elsie Murphree.
Pat is survived by his wife, Brenda Murphree; daughter, Tishia Crump and husband Michael; son, Pat E. Murphree and wife Marielle; granddaughters, Malaney Fretwell and husband Brad, Taylor Crump, Katie Moore; grandsons, Layne Murphree and fiancé Michelle Sacco, Dalton Moore and wife Aliah; great-grandsons, Hayes and Wyatt Fretwell; siblings, Steve Murphree and wife Linda, Mike Murphree, and Tim Murphree.
A remembrance gathering visitation will be held on Monday, June 26, 2023 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Mullican Little Funeral Home, 754 State Hwy 56 E., Bells, TX 75414.

Sorry for your loss
I am so sorry for your loss. I always enjoyed the times when Pat was there.. After we all married and left home, we didn’t see each other very mush. I hate none of our family can be there but when you bring some of his ashes to Walnut, please contact me so maybe we can meet at the family farm.
One of the nicest guys I ever worked with. Rest In Peace.
I know you all have many memories to share and I pray that God gives you comfort and peace

I am not able to make it to pay respects but I had a big soft spot for that sweet man! We had many conversations in that garage! He will be greatly missed but know he is breathing easy!
