Patsy Mardell Reed was born on August 27, 1927 in Sherman, Texas to Freddie Scott Shugart and Artie Fay Hickox. She passed away on May 17, 2020 in Sherman, Texas at the age of 92 years.

Patsy married Joe M. Reed on February 6, 1943 and was married for 58 years till Joe’s death on September 5, 2001. They had one son, Marshall Wayne Reed.

Patsy was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She is remembered as well organized, meticulous as a house keeper and structured in her daily schedule. She expected other people, either family or guests to adhere to her standards of housekeeping.

Patsy was especially remembered as an excellent seamstress. She was skilled in making wedding dresses, prom dresses, suit alterations, and quilt making. Her shop was out back of her house and had multiple sewing machines. It was said that she could sew a dress without a pattern.

Patsy is survived by her son, Marshall Wayne Reed from Mesquite, Texas; grandson, Leland Wayne Reed and wife Tracey from Sherman, Texas; granddaughter, Stephanie Golden from Montague, Texas; seven great grandchildren, and seven great- great grandchildren.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Freddie and Artie Fay Shugart; husband, Joe Reed; sister, Nell Logue; brother, Douglas Shugart.

Graveside services will be held 3PM Wednesday, May 20, 2020 at Ethel Cemetery in Ethel Texas. Due to Covid-19 social distancing will take place at the services.
